Awakening the Light is first in a fantasy series called The Stronghold of Enjanan. My heart for this series is to create a space where relationship with Jesus is accessible (hence writing in allegory) but also very real. My characters live in a different world but they go through stuff we go through, and must learn how to step into relationship with their Creator and draw on God’s strength to face the battle. The entire world spins around the light and is a light vs darkness metaphor for our times. While Jesus isn’t mentioned by name, He is literally the center of their world!

It is very loosely an allegory of a Noah’s ark, where the creator chooses one family as a remnant when the world is descending to chaos. Jesus said “I am the Light of the World” but we can choose whether to step into that light or remain in the darkness.

“But the one who hates his brother or sister is in the darkness, walks in the darkness, and doesn’t know where he’s going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.” ‭(1 John‬ ‭2‬:‭11‬) sums up what’s happening in the world, but “Happy are the people who know the joyful shout – Lord – they walk in the light from your face. ”‭(Psalms‬ ‭89‬:‭15‬)

In my journal, I wrote a poem. It was about a turtle. His name was not Tadeo at that point. I was a new writer and belonged to The Word Guild (a Canadian Christian writers group). I received help in doing my own watercolour illustrations from my art teacher. She encouraged me. I first published 5 copies using Shutterfly. I took those copies to Write!Canada to show to editors and friends. I said to myself and God, if I sell at least 3 of them, I will publish this book. I did sell three (very expensive, too, at $25.00 each). I first published with a vanity publisher, but have since redone the book and published through Amazon.

He Deemed Me Worthy is a personal memoir describing the hopefulness I lived with before Salvation, and the complete transformation after receiving Christ as Savior. It takes you, the reader, through an interesting memory lane where you get a picture of how difficult life is for an introvert who does not know Christ, especially because they aren’t vocal, so there’s a lot of warfare they deal with on their own.
