Tom Petersen - Thank God It’s Monday
Christian Living
After a brief and ill-fated start as a daily newspaper reporter, Tom C. Petersen spent decades in the corporate world as a utility communications professional. He started out writing news releases and employee newsletters before transitioning to writing strategic business objectives and annual performance reviews. He ultimately was primarily responsible for attending meetings and deleting emails. He left the corporate world in 2023 to focus on writing about the intersection of faith and work, and mostly how poorly he had navigated it over the years.
He is intrigued by the challenge of living out our faith with integrity in a workplace that usually doesn’t play by those rules. He finds the discrepancy between the two downright funny. He hopes his struggles serve to encourage others who try to navigate the same path.
Tom is a husband, father, and native Midwesterner with two master’s degrees (one of which is still accredited)
Jealousy. Selfishness. Greed. Stale breakroom donuts.
Work is not the easiest place to practice your Christian faith. Some days faith and work feel about as far apart as Medieval re-enactors and brussels sprouts — and both of those are equally annoying.
Thank God It’s Monday(?) is a practical Christian guide to the 24 (give or take) most common conflicts between faith and work. Each chapter tackles one real workplace struggle, like a difficult boss, an unfair coworker, envy over a promotion, or the pull to cut corners. The author admits how he got it wrong first. Then he walks through what Scripture says and how to do better next time.
Inside, you’ll find help with:
Handling conflict with your boss or coworkers in a Christlike way
Fighting jealousy, pride, and greed on the job
Staying honest and ethical when shortcuts are tempting
Responding to frustrating emails without regret
Finding purpose and meaning in ordinary Monday-through-Friday work
Making your workplace better and more Christ-centered
Think of it as a handbook to pull out after a rough meeting or a tense conversation with the boss. The chapters are short and honest, with plenty of Bible verses and just enough humor to get you to Friday.
What readers are saying:
“This book is a must read for almost everyone. It guides you through almost every aspect of pitfalls you face at work. It also gives you positive goals to pursue to make your workplace better and more Christ centered. Some things you may already know, but many things in the book force you to stop and rethink the way you live.”
Perfect for: Christian employees, managers, small business owners, workplace Bible studies, men’s and women’s small groups, and anyone who has ever prayed for patience during a staff meeting.
For anyone who struggles to live out their faith at work — this book has stuff about that.

This looks like something I might write, er, read!
