Hi there subscribers!
Quick question: how many times have you checked your phone since you opened this email?
Two times? Four times? Don’t worry, I have a bad habit of doing it myself.
I hate to admit it, but some nights I scroll for an hour and can’t tell you one thing I saw. December makes it worse between shopping lists, group texts, and the fourteenth video of a cat in a Santa hat.
This Christmas, I don’t want to waste any time scrolling on my phone. So let’s do something about it. Christian Book Finder is introducing Silent Sunday Nights.
Starting Sunday, Nov 8th, and running every Sunday night until Christmas, we’re putting our phone in the other room and reading for one hour. Just one hour, once a week, for seven weeks.
What books are we reading you may ask? Well, take a look at our line up and choose your book! We have some amazing books from our VIPs which need some readers. And what better way to read them than a Christmas reading challenge.
Here is what we have.
Book #1: An Authentic Narrative In Modern English: The Conversion of a Rebellious Slave Trader.
John Newton’s own story, updated into modern English. The man who wrote “Amazing Grace” tells how he went from rebellious youth to abandoned slave in Africa, survived several close calls, and met God in a deadly storm his shipmates blamed on him. It ends with his early faith, his friendship with George Whitefield, and settling down with Polly in Liverpool.

Book #2: The Second Mile: Escaping the Treadmill of Obligation to Find the Freedom of God
Gary L. Fretwell’s The Second Mile builds on Jesus’ words in Matthew 5:41. He contrasts the draining “first mile” of obligation and scorekeeping with the “second mile” of freely given love, then applies it to marriage, parenting, neighbors, work, money, and justice. He closes with Sabbath rest as the way to keep going without burning out.

Book #3: In The Day of The Lion
In the Day of the Lion, book 2 of the Four Lights series, follows Téra’s group upriver after the flood. After a death and a wreck in the rapids, they split between fisherfolk and a headman offering safety at freedom’s cost. Woven with songs in two reconstructed languages, it’s historical fantasy for fans of Jean Auel and Tolkien.

Book #4: Where You Belong
In Where You Belong, Kami Passmore shows the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit have always shared joyful communion, and you were made to join it. Drawing on her doctoral research, she brings ideas like the Trinity, union with Christ, and perichoresis to the kitchen table. It’s for anyone doing everything right who still feels like a guest in God’s house.

Gilda Wray’s Advent devotional walks through Micah 5 in 35 daily readings over five weeks.
