🌅 The Inspiration Behind the Book
I wanted to create a guide for parents or teachers that would help them understand the Fairytale Tradition, how to approach Christian symbolism and meaning in fairytales, and practical ways to read fairytales with children. I believe the patterns in fairytales are reminiscent of patterns in the Bible and that fairytales prime children’s imaginations and affections in a way that helps them understand, appreciate, and long for God’s Truth, Goodness, and Beauty. This is an educational resource, but it is also meant to equip Christians for conversation around fairytales.

✍️ About the Author
I write about fairytales and children’s literature within the Classical Christian Tradition on my substack. My Searching for Fairyland series explores themes, symbols, and histories of common fairytales, as well as Biblical and educational connections.
I have worked in Christian education for the past ten years, as a classroom teacher, school librarian, and academic specialist. I am greatly inspired by the fairytale philosophy of George MacDonald, and two of my favorite children’s fantasy stories are The Hobbit and The Wind in the Willows.
I believe fairytales draw children and adults alike into the mystery and splendor of the True, the Good, and the Beautiful. I desire to help others delight in the rich stories of our past, for they teach us about God, mankind, and the world both seen and unseen.
